وجاء الاعلان العالمي لحقوق اﻹنسان والعهدان الدوليان الخاصان بالحقوق المدنية والسياسية وبالحقوق الاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية كشكل من أشكال الدفاع عن العالم الذي كان يتشكل بعد الحرب.
