E. Other measures to prevent the killing and maiming of children and/or to prevent and combat rape and other forms of sexual violence against children

However, due to the nature of some crimes which primarily affect women such as rape and other forms of sexual assault, the fact that the crime normally takes place in isolation and without witnesses, it is necessary to have further material corroborative evidence except for the case of a minor to support the rape claim.

In its resolution 59/263 on the situation of human rights in Myanmar, the Assembly called upon the Government of Myanmar to end systematic violations of human rights, including the use of rape and other forms of sexual violence persistently carried out by members of the armed forces, as well as discrimination and violations suffered in particular by persons belonging to ethnic minorities, women and children.
