The issue of transparency in armaments is indeed rather complex and sensitive because it relates directly to the security of States in a troubled, uncertain period, in which various regions of the world are affected by suspicion, instability and mistrust.

وأود انطلاقا من هذه الخلفية أن أحث مؤتمر نزع السلاح على استئناف عمله بشأن موضوع تحديد اﻷسلحة التقليدية في اللجنة المخصصة لتحقيق الشفافية في اﻷسلحة حيث جرت مناقشات بناءة ومثمرة فعليا في السنوات السابقة.

(c) Building mutual confidence through self-restraint and coordinated steps to promote transparency in armaments and transfers of advanced technologies with military applications.
