The Meeting agreed that, in order to increase awareness and visibility of the work of the Inter-Agency Meeting on Outer Space Activities within the United Nations system, it would be desirable that its future sessions be hosted by interested organizations of the United Nations system both in Vienna and at other venues.

At the 586th meeting, the Chairman of the Inter-Agency Meeting on Outer Space Activities, Francesco Pisano of the UNITAR Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT) made a statement on the work of the Inter-Agency Meeting at its twenty-eighth session, held in Geneva from 16 to 18 January 2008.

The Meeting noted that the General Assembly, in its resolution 61/111 (paras. 30-34), had recognized the work of the Inter-Agency Meeting and had encouraged entities of the United Nations system to participate fully in the work of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, its Scientific and Technical Subcommittee and the Inter-Agency Meeting.
