28 - لكن المادة 32 تؤكد في الوقت نفسه أن " الشعوب الأصلية لها الحق في تحديد وترتيب الأولويات والاستراتيجيات المتعلقة بتنمية أو استخدام أراضيها أو أقاليمها ومواردها الأخرى " .

المادة 30 للشعوب الأصلية الحق في تحديد وإعداد الأولويات والاستراتيجيات المتعلقة بتنمية أو استخدام أراضيها أو أقاليمها ومواردها الأخرى. وعلى الدول أن تحصل على موافقتها الحرة والمستنيرة قبل إقرار أي مشروع يؤثر على أراضيها أو أقاليمها ومواردها الأخرى، لا سيما فيما يتعلق بتنمية أو استخدام أو استغلال مواردها المعدنية أو المائية أو الموارد الأخرى.
