5. In paragraphs 11 and 21 of its resolution 1999/61 of 30 July 1999, the Council requested the secretariat of the Commission on Science and Technology for Development:

Regarding the coordination of activities in science and technology for development of the United Nations system, under the resolution the Council would decide that the secretariat of the Commission should be requested to study the possibility of setting up, in collaboration with other United Nations bodies, including the regional commissions, an electronic network on their activities in science and technology for development.
