It also agreed that IADC, as the international organization of experts on space debris, should continue to brief the Subcommittee on the issue on an annual basis, that the Subcommittee should assess the effectiveness of existing mitigation practices and the extent to which they were being implemented and that efforts to model and characterize the debris environment should continue.

In the light of the diverse and sometimes divergent views (responses to question 2, for example) expressed by States with regard to the issues in question, it is clear that the Subcommittee should continue its consideration of those issues.

Some delegations expressed the view that the Subcommittee should cooperate with ITU in all possible aspects of outer space activities, including with respect to avoiding an abuse of the use of the geostationary orbit by some States and international organizations and coordinating the application of international treaties.

Some delegations expressed the view that the Legal Subcommittee should cooperate more closely with the Scientific and Technical Subcommittee in order to address legal aspects of the advanced scientific and technological developments in outer space, with a view to promoting the development of binding international norms addressing critical issues such as space debris and the use of nuclear power sources in outer space.
29- ورأى بعض الوفود أنه ينبغي للجنة الفرعية أن تتعاون تعاوناً أوثق مع اللجنة الفرعية العلمية والتقنية من أجل معالجة الجوانب القانونية للتطورات العلمية والتكنولوجية المتقدمة في الفضاء الخارجي، بغية صوغ قواعد دولية ملزمة تتناول مسائل بالغة الأهمية، مثل الحطام الفضائي واستخدام مصادر القدرة النووية في الفضاء الخارجي.
