The expectations were thus heightened in early 2002 that the time had come for the Government and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to start a substantive dialogue.

The European Union remains deeply concerned at the deteriorating internal situation in Burma and recalls its condemnation of the detention of opposition activists, including elected representatives to the Parliament, and reiterates its call for the lifting of all restrictions on the freedom of movement of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and the immediate release of all political detainees in Burma.
لا يزال الاتحاد اﻷوروبي يساوره قلق شديد بسبب تدهور الحالة الداخلية في ميانمار، وهو يذكﱢر بإدانته لاحتجاز مناضلي المعارضة، بمن فيهم ممثلو البرلمان المنتخبون، ويجدد نداءه من أجل رفع جميع القيود المفروضة على حرية داو أونغ سان سوو كيي في التنقل، واﻹفراج فورا عن جميع المعتقلين السياسيين في ميانمار.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi responded by remarking: " The confidence-building stage is over " .
وردّت داو أونغ سان سوو كيي على ذلك بالإشارة إلى أن " مرحلة بناء الثقة قد تمت " .

He reiterated the call for the Government and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to start substantive dialogue by seizing the positive momentum generated since May.
وأعاد توجيه الدعوة إلى الحكومة وداو أونغ سان سوو كيي للبدء بحوار موضوعي عن طريق استغلال ما تولّد من زخم إيجابي منذ أيار/مايو.

9. While acknowledging that dialogue on substantive issues has yet to start, the Government informed my Special Envoy that discussion with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was continuing through a new team led by the Education Minister.
9- وأبلغت الحكومة، لدى اعترافها بعدم إجراء هذا الحوار حول مسائل موضوعية لحد الآن، مبعوثي الخاص بأن المباحثات مع داو أونغ سان سوو كيي جارية من خلال فريق جديد يقوده وزير التعليم.
