The draft resolution, which had been shortened and revised to take account of the Beijing Platform for Action, inter alia, urged all States that had not yet ratified or acceded to the Convention to do so as soon as possible, and emphasized the importance of full compliance by States parties with their obligations under the Convention.

The Meeting recommended that all States that had not yet ratified or acceded to the Protocol against the Illicit Manufacturing of and Trafficking in Firearms, Their Parts and Components and Ammunition, supplementing the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime (General Assembly resolution 55/255, annex), do so in order to facilitate its entry into force as soon as possible.
