(1) Arrest is permissible of any ship in respect of which a maritime claim is asserted if:
)١( يجوز الحجز على أية سفينة قدمت بشأنها مطالبة بحرية إذا تحقق ما يلي:

(b) Cooperate with and assist in the inspection of any vessel or installation conducted pursuant to these procedures;
(ب) التعاون والمساعدة في تفتيش أية سفينة أو منشأة تبعا لهذه الإجراءات؛

The regulation shall apply within the territory of the European Community, including its air space and on any aircraft or any vessel under the jurisdiction of a member State and to any person elsewhere who is a national of a member State and any body which is incorporated or constituted under the law of a member State.

(4) Nothing in this Convention shall modify or affect the rules of law in force in the respective Contracting States relating to the arrest of any ship within the jurisdiction of the State of her flag by a person who has his habitual residence or principal place of business in that State.
)٤( ليس هناك في هذه الاتفاقية ما يلحق تعديلاً أو تأثيراً على قواعد القانون السارية في الدول المتعاقدة المعنية بشأن حجز أية سفينة في ظل ولاية الدولة التي ترفع علمها وذلك من قبل شخص يتخذ من تلك الدولة مقراً اعتيادياً له أو مكاناً رئيسياً لمزاولة أعماله.

In adopting the Rules and Recommendations, the Maritime Safety Committee stressed that they had been established purely for the purpose of the safety of navigation and environmental protection and were not intended in any way to affect or prejudice the rights of any ship using the Straits under international law, including the Convention on the Law of the Sea and the 1936 Montreux Convention regarding the Regime of the Straits.

)٤( لا تمس هذه الاتفاقية بأية حقوق أو سلطات تتمتع بها أية حكومة أو إداراتها، أو أية سلطة عامة، أو سلطة أي حوض سفن أو ميناء، بموجب أية اتفاقية دولية أو أي قانون محلي أو لائحة محلية، لاحتجاز أية سفينة داخل ولايتها أو منعها على نحو آخر من اﻹبحار.

On the high seas, or in any other place outside the jurisdiction of any State, every State may seize a pirate ship or aircraft, or a ship or aircraft taken by piracy and under the control of pirates, and arrest the persons and seize the property on board.
