1. UNMAS, on behalf of the UN Mine Action Team, submitted a working paper on " The United Nations and the implementation of Protocol V " to the Group of Governmental Experts (GGE) on 31 August 2006 (CCW/GGE/XV/WG.1/WP.2).
1- قدّمت دائرة الأمم المتحدة للأعمال المتعلقة بالألغام، نيابة عن فريق الأمم المتحدة المشترك بين الوكالات لتنسيق الأعمال المتعلقة بالألغام، ورقة عمل بعنوان " الأمم المتحدة وتنفيذ البروتوكول الخامس " إلى فريق الخبراء الحكوميين في 31 آب/أغسطس 2006 (CCW/CGE/XV/WG.1/WP.2).

1. On 8 March 2004 the Coordinator of the Working Group on Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) presented a paper to the Group of Governmental Experts (GGE) of the States Parties to the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons which may be deemed to be Excessively Injurious or to have Indiscriminate Effects (CCW).

It also welcomed the mandate accorded to the Group of Governmental Experts on explosive remnants of war, which provided for a balanced approach without prejudging the outcome, and the mandate on mines other than anti-personnel mines, which could provide the momentum for negotiations for a new instrument on such mines.
36- واستطرد قائلاً إن بلده يرحب أيضاً بالولاية التي عهد بها إلى فريق الخبراء الحكوميين المعني بالمتفجرات من مخلفات الحرب لكونها تتيح نهجاً متوازناً مع عدم سبق الحكم على النتائج، وبالولاية بشأن الألغام غير الألغام المضادة للأفراد التي يمكن أن تدفع على إجراء مفاوضات من أجل وضع صك جديد بشأن هذه الألغام.

Requests the Secretary-General to ensure that adequate support is provided to the Group of Governmental Experts established pursuant to General Assembly resolution 67/53 of 3 December 2012 on a treaty banning the production of fissile material for nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosive devices, in order to enable the group to meet for two sessions of two weeks in both 2014 and 2015;

Consultants' fees and travel: $38,200. This provision will be needed to hire individual contractors for translation work ($5,000) and consultants for the Assistance to the Group of Governmental Experts on Information Security ($15,000), for the project on multilateral approaches to the nuclear fuel cycle ($5,000) and for the Security Needs Assessment Protocol -- phase two ($13,200).

Argentina had submitted to the Group of Governmental Experts of the High Contracting Parties to the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons at its eleventh session, held in August 2005, an outline of national practice in respect of generic preventive measures, in a document entitled " Preventive Technical Measures in Munitions Management " (CCW/GGE/XI/WG.1/WP.11).

18. At the request of the Coordinator on ERW, UNMAS, on behalf of the Inter Agency Coordination Group on Mine Action (IACG-MA), prepared and submitted to the GGE a document titled " The United Nations and the Implementation of Protocol V " .

In this regard, Canada, along with Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States of America, and in close consultation with the International Committee of the Red Cross, advanced a framework for addressing steps one and two in the form of a questionnaire, which was submitted to the GGE during the March 2005 session as Working Paper CCW/GGE/X/WG.1/WP.2.

For example, in 1997, the Centre for Disarmament Affairs provided the following support to the Panel of Governmental Experts on Small Arms: preparing an annotated bibliographical survey of publications and supplying documents requested by the experts; liaising with reputed scholars making presentations before the Panel; planning and organizing workshops; and drafting sections of the report.
