It further requested the AWG-LCA to consider the submissions and the technical paper referred to above and the report on the outcomes of the workshop with the aim of reporting on progress made and any recommendations to the COP at its eighteenth session.

At the same meeting, upon a proposal by the President, the COP agreed to continue to apply the draft rules of procedure contained in document FCCC/CP/1996/2, with the exception of rule 42, and agreed that the President would continue consultations during the intersessional period and would report back to the COP at its eighteenth session in the event of any new developments.

Background: At COP 17, Parties decided to continue to apply the draft rules of procedure contained in document FCCC/CP/1996/2, with the exception of rule 42, and agreed that the President would continue consultations during the intersessional period and would report back to the COP at its eighteenth session in the event of any new developments.

The SBI, at its thirty-sixth session, invited the GEF to continue to provide information on its activities relating to the preparation of national communications from non-Annex I Parties, and to provide, in its report to the COP at its eighteenth session, information on its activities relating to the preparation of biennial update reports.

By decision 5/CP.17, the COP requested the Adaptation Committee, in accordance with its agreed functions, to consider, in its workplan, the relevant modalities for supporting interested developing country Parties that are not LDCs to plan, prioritize and implement their national adaptation planning measures and to report to the COP at its eighteenth session.
