The United States called for a closed meeting of the Security Council on 5 October 2007 purportedly to be briefed by the Special Adviser to the United Nations Secretary-General, Ibrahim Gambari, on his visit to Myanmar from 29 September to 2 October 2007, following the demonstrations there in September.
