1. Affirms that it is essential to place the protection of human rights at the centre of measures taken to prevent and end trafficking in persons, and to protect, assist and provide access to adequate redress to victims, including the possibility of obtaining compensation from the perpetrators;

In addition, article 6 requires States parties to endeavour to provide for the physical safety of victims of trafficking while they are within their respective territories and to ensure that their respective domestic legal systems contain measures that offer victims of trafficking the possibility of obtaining compensation for damage suffered.
