We believe that visiting missions should be considered only if they are absolutely necessary for the Committee to implement its mandate.

15 - ينبغي للدول القائمة بالإدارة تسهيل إيفاد البعثات الزائرة التابعة للأمم المتحدة إلى كل إقليم من الأقاليم على فترات منتظمة.

Throughout the period under review, the General Assembly reaffirmed that United Nations visiting missions are an effective means of ascertaining the situation in the Territories, as well as the wishes and aspirations of their inhabitants, and called upon the administering Powers to continue to cooperate with the Special Committee in the discharge of its mandate and to facilitate visiting missions to the Territories.
وطوال الفترة المشمولة بالاستعراض، أكدت الجمعية العامة من جديد أن بعثات الأمم المتحدة الزائرة تشكل وسيلة فعالة للتحقق من الحالة في الأقاليم ومن رغبات سكانها وتطلعاتهم، وأهابت بالدول القائمة بالإدارة أن تواصل تعاونها مع اللجنة الخاصة في الاضطلاع بولايتها وتيسير إيفاد البعثات الزائرة إلى الأقاليم.

Obviously, it would be desirable that the visiting missions or special missions could take place in the framework of a plan for the decolonization of specific Territories agreed to with the administering Power and the representatives of the Territories on a case-by case basis.
ومن الجلي أنه سيكون من المستحسن أن يتسنى إيفاد البعثات الزائرة أو البعثات الخاصة في إطار خطة لإنهاء الاستعمار في أقاليم معينة يتفق عليها مع الدولة القائمة بالإدارة وممثلي الأقاليم على أساس كل حالة على حدة.

9. The Special Committee will continue its dialogue with the administering Powers aiming at ensuring their full cooperation, particularly by facilitating United Nations visiting missions to Non-Self-Governing Territories, and therefore would be ready to review the role of the regional seminars.
٩ - وسوف تواصل اللجنة الخاصة حوارها مع الدول القائمة باﻹدارة من أجل ضمان تعاونها التام، لا سيما عن طريق تيسير إيفاد البعثات الزائرة من اﻷمم المتحدة إلى اﻷقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي، وعندئذ ستكون على استعداد لاستعراض دور الحلقات الدراسية اﻹقليمية.

5. Requests the administering Powers to facilitate the dispatch of the United Nations visiting missions to the Non-Self-Governing Territories regarding their future political status so that the Special Committee can review the status of the Territories in accordance with the expressed wishes of the peoples of the Territory;
٥ - تطلب إلى الدول القائمة باﻹدارة أن تيسر إيفاد البعثات الزائرة التابعة لﻷمم المتحدة إلى اﻷقاليم غير المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي بشأن تحديد مركز تلك اﻷقاليم السياسي في المستقبل، وذلك كيما يتسنى للجنة الخاصة أن تستعرض مركز هذه اﻷقاليم وفقا لما أبداه شعب اﻹقليم من رغبات؛

5. Noting the importance of information programmes in the decolonization process, he said that the dispatch of visiting missions to the Non-Self-Governing Territories and the holding of regional seminars, such as that held in Grenada in May 2007, were among successful practices by the Special Committee in recent years.
43 - ومع ملاحظته لأهمية برامج المعلومات في عملية تصفية الاستعمار، قال إن إيفاد البعثات الزائرة إلى المناطق المتمتعة بالحكم الذاتي وعقد حلقات دراسية إقليمية، كتلك التي عقدت في غرينادا في أيار/مايو 2007، تعتبر من بين الممارسات الناجحة للجنة الخاصة في السنوات الأخيرة.
