The Sixth Global Meeting of the Regional Seas (Istanbul, 30 November - 2 December 2004) further developed the principle elements of the new strategy into a pragmatic and operational programme of work, which will be implemented on the global level by UNEP and on the regional level by the individual regional seas conventions and action plans.
