6. The primary international mechanism for the investigation of the use of biological or toxin weapons is a procedure run under the auspices of the United Nations Secretary-General.

The investigation of the alleged use of biological or toxin weapons and assistance in such cases relates to two articles of the Convention: Article VI which deals with the investigation of compliance concerns, and Article VII which deals with assistance in the case of the use of biological or toxin weapons.
