Believing that the task of bettering the situation of the Arab family requires the adoption of an Arab position officially committing Governments to an affirmation of the family's position in society, the strengthening of the bonds between family members and between generations, the improvement of families' living conditions, and the development of legislation and other statutory instruments aimed at supporting and protecting the family,
وإيمانا بأن النهوض بأوضاع الأسرة العربية يقتضى اتخاذ موقف عربي يكرس الالتزام بتأكيد مكانـتها في المجـتمع، وتعزيـز علاقات الترابط بين أفرادها وأجيالها، وتحسين ظروف معيشتها، وتطوير القوانين والتشريعات التي من شأنها دعمها وحمايتها،

It is essential to maintain the foundations of the Arab family, which has helped to preserve the values, principles and culture that have protected successive generations and kept them from falling into delinquency, and to endeavour by all available means to eliminate fear of the collapse and breakdown of the family.
