8 Prohibited Transactions in relation to Imports of weapons or military equipment into Somalia

(a) Supplies of weapons or military equipment or the provision of assistance, intended solely for the support of or use by United Nations personnel, including the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM);

79. In principle, the export of military and security services, even military consultancy and training services, should be placed within a category similar or comparable to the export of arms or military equipment.

In its reply, dated 26 September 2006, the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran informed the Monitoring Group that " according to the information received from the relevant authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran, there has been no transfer or shipment of any kind of weapons or military equipment from the Islamic Republic of Iran to Somalia " .
وأبلغت حكومة جمهورية إيران الإسلامية، في ردها، المؤرخ 26 أيلول/سبتمبر 2006، فريق الرصد أنها " وفقا للمعلومات التي حصلت عليها من السلطات المعنية بجمهورية إيران الإسلامية، لم يحدث أي نقل أو شحن لأي نوع من الأسلحة أو المعدات العسكرية من جمهورية إيران الإسلامية إلى الصومال " .

6. Decides that until 6 March 2014 the arms embargo on Somalia shall not apply to deliveries of weapons or military equipment or the provision of advice, assistance or training, intended solely for the development of the Security Forces of the Federal Government of Somalia, to provide security for the Somali people, except in relation to deliveries of the items set out in the annex to this resolution;

Also decides that the measures imposed by paragraph 5 of resolution 733 (1992) and further elaborated upon in paragraphs 1 and 2 of resolution 1425 (2002) shall not apply to supplies of weapons or military equipment or the provision of assistance intended solely for the support of or use by United Nations personnel, including the United Nations Political Office for Somalia or its successor mission;
