40. The past year has witnessed a decrease in the number of externally deployed foreign military assets supporting humanitarian relief efforts.

4. Due to the increased frequency and severity of natural disasters, efforts have been made to enhance the effectiveness of foreign military assets engaged in disaster-response operations.
4 - نظرا لزيادة تواتر وشدة الكوارث الطبيعية()، تم بذل جهود لتعزيز فعالية الأصول العسكرية الأجنبية المشاركة في عمليات الاستجابة للكوارث.

In all of these cases, foreign military assets were provided either bilaterally, or as a part of a larger organizational structure (CARICOM, NATO, DPKO, etc.), and deployed upon an explicit request from the host country.

(g) Member States are encouraged to consider the applicability of the Guidelines on the Use of Foreign Military and Civil Defence Assets in Disaster Relief for the coordination of foreign military assets to their national and regional disaster structures, bearing in mind the positive role that neighbouring countries can play in supporting disaster responses;
(ز) تشجع الدول الأعضاء على النظر في إمكانية تطبيق المبادئ التوجيهية لاستخدام أصول الدفاع العسكري والمدني الأجنبية في عمليات الإغاثة في حالات الكوارث، وذلك بهدف تساوق استخدام الأصول العسكرية الأجنبية مع هياكلها الوطنية والإقليمية لمواجهة الكوارث، واضعة في اعتبارها الدور الإيجابي الذي يمكن أن تضطلع به البلدان المجاورة في دعم الاستجابة للكوارث؛
