The Committee welcomes the increased awareness of minimum requirements among childcare institutions as a result of indicators of the children in need of special protection monitoring system.
وترحب اللجنة بزيادة الوعي بالمتطلبات الدنيا في صفوف مؤسسات رعاية الأطفال نتيجة المؤشرات التي يوفرها نظام رصد الأطفال الذين يحتاجون إلى حماية خاصة.

The Committee is also concerned that the population census of 2006 was not used to collect data on children, including children in need of special protection.

367. The Committee welcomes the launching, in 2001, of the CIDA's Action Plan on Child Protection which promotes the rights of children in need of special protection and identifies children affected by armed conflict as one of the areas of strategic focus for the plan.

While the Committee welcomes the State party’s adoption of legislation banning discrimination, it remains concerned at the growing disparities between regions, including notably the far north, and between urban and rural children, in legislation, budgetary allocations, policies and programmes concerning health, education and other social services and with the situation of children in need of special protection.

Within the ambit of its mandate, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has taken a special interest in the plight of children who need special protection in view of their vulnerability to human rights abuses, including those referred to in Council resolutions 1983/30 and 1993/48.
