With support from UNHCR among other partners, the Committee on the Rights of the Child is currently drafting a general comment on the treatment of unaccompanied and separated children outside of the country of origin.

10. If not otherwise specified, the guidelines below apply equally to both unaccompanied and separated children.

5. The Service has completed a review of State practice in relation to the treatment of unaccompanied and separated children in mixed movements, and also plans to evaluate UNHCR's operational role in a number of these movements, focusing initially on the Mediterranean region.
5- وأكملت الدائرة استعراضاً لممارسات الدول فيما يتصل بمعاملة الأطفال غير المصحوبين والأطفال المنفصلين عن ذويهم في حركات الهجرة المختلطة، وتعتزم كذلك تقييم الدور التنفيذي للمفوضية في عدد من هذه الحركات، مع التركيز بداية على منطقة البحر الأبيض المتوسط.

In the light of its general comment No. 6 on the treatment of unaccompanied and separated children outside their country of origin (CRC/GC/2005/6), the Committee recommends that the State party:
67- في ضوء تعليقها العام رقم 6 بشأن معاملة الأطفال غير المصحوبين والأطفال المنفصلين عن ذويهم خارج بلدهم الأصلي (CRC/GC/2005/6)، توصي اللجنة بأن تقوم الدولة الطرف بما يلي:

In doing so, the State party is urged to take into account the Committee's general comment No. 6 (2005) on the treatment of unaccompanied and separated children outside their country of origin.

Regarding the high number of unaccompanied and separated children, the Deputy Director emphasized UNHCR's continued efforts to operationalize the best interests principle (e.g. Field Handbook for the Implementation of UNHCR Guidelines on Best Interests Determination (BID)).
وفيما يتعلق بارتفاع عدد الأطفال غير المصحوبين والأطفال المنفصلين عن ذويهم أكدت مساعدة المدير على أن المفوضية تواصل بذل جهودها من أجل تفعيل مبدأ خدمة المصالح الفضلى للطفل (الدليل الميداني لتطبيق المبادئ التوجيهية للمفوضية بشأن تحديد المصالح الفضلى).

11. During the reporting period, the Committee on the Rights of the Child adopted two general comments: on " Treatment of unaccompanied and separated children outside of their country of origin " (CRC/GC/2005/6); and, on " Implementing child rights in early childhood " (CRC/C/GC/7).

Finally, the Committee recommends that the State party take note of its general comment No. 6 (2005) on the treatment of unaccompanied and separated children outside their country of origin and the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict.

(67) The Committee urges the State party, taking into account the Committee's general comment No. 6 (2005) on the treatment of unaccompanied and separated children outside their country of origin, to take the necessary steps, in collaboration with civil society and other Governments, to complete the resettlement of all Sierra Leonean refugees, including children, without delay.

89. The Committee recommends that the State party implement the recommendations contained in the HREOC report " A Last Resort? " , and bring its immigration and asylum laws fully into conformity with the Convention and other relevant international standards, taking into account the Committee's general comment No. 6 (2005) on the treatment of unaccompanied and separated children outside their country of origin.
