A draft transit transport framework agreement prepared for Central Asia was negotiated and signed by States members of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) at Almaty, Kazakhstan, on 9 May 1998.
وتفاوضت الدول الأعضاء في منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي على مشروع اتفاق إطاري للنقل العابر أُعد لآسيا الوسطى ووقعت عليه في ألماتي، بكازاخستان، في 9 أيار/مايو 1998.

While addressing that issue, let me add that the reconstruction of Afghanistan is one of the major priorities of the ECO member States.

Although no direct cooperation has taken place between the two organizations during the reporting period, ECE has undertaken a number of projects in a number of ECO member countries.

12. Noting that Afghanistan and other States members of the Economic Cooperation Organization had signed a regional transport cooperation agreement, he said that his country was in dire need of international funding for the development of transport infrastructure, since armed conflict in the 1980s had destroyed the country's road network.
12 - وبعد أن أشار إلى أن أفغانستان والدول الأخرى الأعضاء في منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي كانت قد وقّعت على اتفاق إقليمي للتعاون في مجال النقل، قال إن بلده في حاجة ماسة إلى التمويل الدولي لتنمية الهياكل الأساسية للنقل، نظرا لأن الصراع المسلح في الثمانينات من القرن الماضي دمّر شبكة الطرق في البلد.

The ECO member states introduced the Drug Demand Reduction Liaison Experts to be trained under DCCU project.
وقدمت الدول الأعضاء في منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي خبراء الاتصال المعنيون بخفض الطلب على المخدرات بغية تدريبهم في إطار مشروع وحدة تنسيق مكافحة المخدرات.

That project complements work undertaken in the national projects that the Office is currently implementing in ECO member States.
ويكمل هذا المشروع الأعمال المنفذة في اطار المشاريع الوطنية التي يعكف المكتب حاليا على تنفيذها في الدول الأعضاء في منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي.

Fortunately, ECO member States have prepared themselves for such cooperation by making the decisions needed to strengthen relations between ECO and other regional and international organizations.
ومن حسن الطالع، أن الدول الأعضاء في منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي قد أعدت أنفسها لهذا التعاون باتخاذ القرارات اللازمة بغية تعزيز العلاقات بين منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي والمنظمات الإقليمية والدولية الأخرى.

The participants also discussed frameworks for accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), the integration with world markets in the context of standards compliance and proposed to carry out a needs assessment of ECO member States with respect to standards, metrology, testing and infrastructure.
وناقش المشاركون أيضا أطر الانضمام إلى منظمة التجارة العالمية، والاندماج في الأسواق العالمية في سياق الامتثال للمعايير واقترحوا إجراء تقييم لاحتياجات الدول الأعضاء في منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي فيما يتعلق بالمعايير وعلم القياس والاختبار والبنية التحتية.

11. Another development that took place in this regard was the holding of an extraordinary summit meeting of the Heads of State and Government of the States members of ECO at Ashgabat on 13 and 14 May 1997.
١١ - وقد حدث تطور آخر في هذا الصدد ويتمثل في عقد اجتماع قمة استثنائي لرؤساء دول وحكومات الدول اﻷعضاء في منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي في أشغابات في ١٣ و ١٤ أيار/مايو ١٩٩٧.

6. A project has been jointly prepared by ECO and ESCAP for the purpose of undertaking a survey of economic resources to identify opportunities for closer cooperation among the countries members of ECO.
٦ - واشتركت منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي واللجنة الاقتصادية والاجتماعية ﻵسيا والمحيط الهادئ في إعداد مشروع من أجل القيام بمسح للموارد الاقتصادية لتحديد فرص توثيق التعاون بين البلدان اﻷعضاء في منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي.

In my capacity as Chairperson of the Contact Group of the States members of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to the United Nations I have the honour to transmit the text of the Almaty Declaration, adopted by the Heads of State and Government of the States members of ECO at its fifth summit meeting, held at Almaty on 11 May 1998.

It also decided to request the Executive Director to promote the work of the respective regional offices and increase their financial capacities for fulfilling the goals of capacity-building and technology transfer to the Economic Cooperation Organization member countries.
وقرر أيضاً أن يطلب إلى المدير التنفيذي تنشيط عمل كل مكتب من المكاتب الإقليمية ويعمل على زيادة القدرات المالية للمكاتب حتى تتمكن من تحقيق أهداف بناء القدرات، ونقل التكنولوجيا، إلى البلدان الأعضاء في منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي.

Measures need to be taken by all BSEC member States to safeguard their financial institutions so that economic development in the BSEC region is not impeded.
ولا بدَّ للدول الأعضاء في منظمة التعاون الاقتصادي من اتخاذ تدابير لحماية مؤسساتها المالية، بحيث لا تتأذى التنمية الاقتصادية في منطقة البحر الأسود.

Further requests the Executive Director to establish and reinforce linkages and partnerships among other relevant United Nations bodies, development banks, and Bretton Woods institutions to enable the regional offices and Economic Cooperation Organization member countries to deliver the relevant programme of work of the United Nations Environment Programme in the region effectively;
