In 1999, ILO member States unanimously adopted the Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention No. 182.

30. A unique feature of the Declaration is that States members of ILO, even if they have not ratified the conventions in question, have an obligation to respect in good faith and in accordance with the Constitution of ILO, the principles concerning the fundamental rights that are the subject of those conventions.
30 - وما يميّز الاعلان هو أن الدول الأعضاء في منظمة العمل الدولية ، حتى وإن إن لم تصدق على الاتفاقيات المعنية، ملزمة بأن تحترم بحسن نية ووفقاً لدستور المنظمة المبادئ المتعلقة بالحقوق الأساسية موضوع هذه الاتفاقيات.

It will enter into force after ratification by 30 ILO member States with a total share of at least 3 per cent of world tonnage.

It also brought about a remarkable increase in the number of ratifications of Convention No. 138 on the minimum age, which has almost doubled during the past five years and which now includes more than a half of the ILO member States (95 ratifications, as of 5 July 2000).

30. ILO member States aim at eliminating the worst forms of child labour by the year 2016, as set out in the Global Action Plan contained in the ILO Global Report of 2006 on child labour.

Of those, 186 million were engaged in child labour, including in its worst forms, to which the ILO member States, through agreed ILO conventions, have given priority for abolition.

E. Standards and regulatory policies 62. The adoption of the 1998 Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work by the ILO member States marked a renewed commitment to respect, promote and realize " core labour standards " , namely, freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining; abolition of forced or compulsory labour; elimination of child labour; and freedom from discrimination.
