83. The Brazilian Government also actively participated in the preparations for the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and related Intolerance by organizing a consultation with the civil society.

14. Requests the Working Group to contribute to and participate in the preparations for the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance, focusing for this purpose on the relationship between the elimination of racial discrimination and the promotion and protection of the rights of persons belonging to minorities;
14- تطلب إلى الفريق العامل أن يساهم ويشارك في الأعمال التحضيرية للمؤتمر العالمي لمكافحة العنصرية والتمييز العنصري وكره الأجانب وما يتصل بذلك من تعصب، مع التركيز، تحقيقاً لهذا الغرض، على العلاقة بين القضاء على التمييز العنصري وتعزيز وحماية حقوق الأشخاص المنتمين إلى أقليات؛

12. Requests the Working Group, within its mandate, to contribute to, and participate in, the preparations for the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance, and to intensify its activities in this regard;
12- تطلب إلى الفريق العامل أن يقوم، في إطار ولايته، بالإسهام والمشاركة في الأعمال التحضيرية للمؤتمر العالمي لمكافحة العنصرية والتمييز العنصري وكره الأجانب والتعصب المتصل بذلك، وبتكثيف أنشطته في هذا المضمار؛

(a) The participation of national institutions in the preparations for the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance at the national, regional and global levels and in the Conference itself;
(أ) مشاركة المؤسسات الوطنية في الأعمال التحضيرية للمؤتمر العالمي لمكافحة العنصرية والتمييز العنصري وكره الأجانب وما يتصل بذلك من تعصب، على المستويات الوطنية والإقليمية والعالمية، ومشاركتها في المؤتمر نفسه؛

Following the meeting, a joint statement was issued which focused on two issues of concern, namely, attacks on journalists and defamation law (see annex IV). It was also agreed by the three mandate holders that they would issue a joint statement on racism and the media as part of the preparations for the World Conference against Racism, Racial Discrimination, Xenophobia and Related Intolerance.
وعقب الاجتماع، صدر بيان مشترك ركز على قضيتين موضعي اهتمام، ألا وهما الاعتداء على الصحفيـين وقانـون التشهير (انظر المرفق الرابع). كما اتفق المسؤولون عن الآليات الثلاث على إصدار بيان مشترك بشأن العنصريـة ووسائط الإعلام كجزء من الأعمال التحضيرية للمؤتمر العالمي لمكافحة العنصرية والتمييز العنصري وكره الأجانب وما يتصل بذلك من تعصب.
