We appreciate the fact that the Secretary-General highlighted in his report such aspects of the ongoing cooperation between the United Nations and the OIC.

I would like to conclude my statement by expressing the hope and expectation that cooperation between the United Nations and the OIC will be swiftly enhanced in all areas of common concern, values and ideals.

The draft resolution takes into account, inter alia, the desire of the United Nations and the OIC to continue to cooperate closely in the political, economic, social, humanitarian, cultural and scientific fields and in their common search for solutions to global problems.
يأخذ مشروع القرار في الحسبان، بين أمور أخرى، توخّي الأمم المتحدة ومنظمة المؤتمر الإسلامي مواصلة التعاون الوثيق في المجالات السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية والإنسانية والثقافية والعلمية، وفي السعي المشترك إلى حلول للمشاكل العالمية.

Cooperation between the United Nations and the OIC may provide for some activities, including awareness-raising, encouraging Member States to take actions and alerting the media to the adverse impact of Islamophobia on peace and harmony at the international level.

Pursuant to previous resolutions on this subject, contacts and dialogue between the United Nations and the OIC and their respective agencies and bodies will continue to be strengthened through the support of the Islamic Group in New York and Geneva and a number of OIC contact groups and committees at the United Nations.
وامتثالا للقرارات السابقة، فقد استمرت الاتصالات والتفاعلات بين الأمم المتحدة ومنظمة المؤتمر الإسلامي وبين الوكالات والمؤسسات التابعة للمنظمتين. وسيستمر تعزيزها من خلال المجموعة الإسلامية في نيويورك وجنيف وفي عدد من اللجان ومجموعات الاتصال التابعة لمنظمة المؤتمر الإسلامي.

In accordance with previous resolutions, contacts and interactions between the United Nations and the OIC and between our respective agencies and institutions will continue to be strengthened through the Islamic Group in New York and through a number of OIC contact groups and committees at the United Nations.
وامتثالا للقرارات السابقة فقد استمرت الاتصالات والتفاعلات بين الأمم المتحدة ومنظمة المؤتمر الإسلامي وبين الوكالات والمؤسسات التابعة للمنظمتين. وسيستمر تعزيزها من خلال المجموعة الإسلامية بنيويورك وعدد من اللجان ومجموعات الاتصال التابعة لمنظمة المؤتمر الإسلامي.

For this purpose, it was agreed that consultations should be undertaken between the secretariats of the United Nations and OIC with a view to defining the mechanisms for such cooperation.
ولهذ الغرض، ووفق على إجراء مشاورات بين أمانات منظومة اﻷمم المتحدة ومنظمة المؤتمر اﻹسلامي بهدف تحديد آليات مثل هذا التعاون.

(d) Memoranda of understanding should be signed between the agencies of the United Nations and OIC wherever relevant;

In conclusion, my delegation wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Secretary-General of the OIC for their tireless efforts in forging the cooperation between the United Nations and OIC.

The item entitled “Cooperation between the United Nations and the Islamic Conference” was included in the agenda of the thirty-fifth session of the General Assembly, in 1980, at the request of Pakistan (A/35/194).
