As a consequence, savings were achieved in the amounts of $1,017,100 under standard troop costs and $180,900 under daily allowances and recreational leave allowances.

The 2008 Working Group also recommended an increase in recreational leave allowance from the current 7 days to 15 days for each six-month tour of duty for members of military contingents/formed police units and it requested the legislative bodies to consider this issue, as it comes under the umbrella of troop costs.
