Recalling further the relevant paragraphs in the Ministerial Declaration of the high-level segment of the substantive session of 2007 of the Council,

26. The Ministerial Declaration of the high-level segment of the substantive session of the Economic and Social Council had recognized the important role of information technology in accelerating growth, promoting sustainable development and eradicating poverty and called for effective and meaningful efforts to enhance the impact of such technology on development.
