Stresses that it is important that States strongly condemn all forms of violence against women and refrain from invoking any custom, tradition or religious consideration to avoid their obligations with respect to its elimination as set out in the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women;

In 1993 the United Nations General Assembly approved the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women (the Declaration).

5. The tenth anniversary in 2003 of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action, and of the proclamation by the General Assembly in resolution 48/104 of 20 December 1993 of the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women, are an opportunity to assess progress achieved since the adoption of those landmark documents.
5- إن الاحتفال في عام 2003 بالذكرى السنوية العاشرة, لإعلان وبرنامج عمل فيينا وباعتماد الجمعية العامة بموجب قرارها 48/104 المؤرخ 20 كانون الأول/ديسمبر 1993 الإعلان بشأن القضاء على العنف ضد المرأة يعد مناسبةً لتقييم ما أُحرز من تقدم منذ اعتماد هاتين الوثيقتين التاريخيتين.

" (j) Condemn violence against women and refrain from invoking any custom, tradition or religious consideration to avoid their obligations with respect to its elimination as set out in the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women " ,

(l) To formulate, implement and promote, at all appropriate levels, plans of action, including timebound measurable targets where appropriate, to eliminate violence against women and girls, guided by, inter alia, the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women, as well as relevant regional instruments pertaining to the elimination of violence against women and girls;
(ل) أن تضع وتنفذ وتعزز على جميع المستويات المناسبة خطط عمل لها إطار زمني محدد وأهداف قابلة للقياس عند الاقتضاء، للقضاء على العنف ضد النساء والفتيات، مسترشدة بجملة أمور منها الإعلان بشأن القضاء على العنف ضد النساء والفتيات، فضلاً عن الصكوك الإقليمية ذات الصلة بالقضاء على العنف ضد المرأة؛

7. The Commission reaffirms the commitment to the full and effective implementation of and follow-up to all relevant resolutions of the General Assembly, in particular the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence against Women, and the Economic and Social Council and its subsidiary bodies on the elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls.
7 - وتؤكد اللجنة من جديد الالتزام بالتنفيذ والمتابعة الكاملين والفعالين لجميع القرارات ذات الصلة الصادرة عن الجمعية العامة، وبخاصة الإعلان بشأن القضاء على العنف ضد المرأة، وعن المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي وهيئاته الفرعية بشأن القضاء على جميع أشكال العنف ضد النساء والفتيات ومنعها.
