17. The Reference Regional Strategic Framework for Statistical Capacity-building in Africa urges the African Union Commission to play a greater role in the statistical development of the region, in particular in the area of high-level advocacy for statistics.

The Reference Regional Strategic Framework for Statistical Capacity-Building in Africa was designed in 2006 to provide strategic directions and appropriate mechanisms for guiding and accelerating the development of sustainable statistical capacity in Africa for managing for results, and for implementing the Marrakech Action Plan for Statistics.

Objective: To increase the availability and utilization of quality statistical information for evidence-based policy formulation and tracking progress towards the achievement of national and international development targets, including the Millennium Development Goals in Africa, within the framework of the Reference Regional Strategic Framework for Statistical Capacity-Building in support of African integration processes
الهدف: زيادة توافر معلومات إحصائية جيدة النوعية واستخدامها في صياغة سياسات تستند إلى الأدلة وفي تتبع التقدم المحرز نحو تحقيق الغايات الإنمائية على الصعيدين الوطني والدولي، بما فيها الأهداف الإنمائية للألفية في أفريقيا، ضمن الإطار الاستراتيجي الإقليمي المرجعي اللازم لبناء القدرات الإحصائية دعماً لعمليات التكامل الأفريقي

With respect to RRSF implementation, the meeting recognized that statistical development is an expensive exercise and donors play a key role in providing financing.
وبخصوص تنفيذ إطار العمل الاستراتيجي الإقليمي المرجعي لبناء القدرات الإحصائية في أفريقيا، أقر الاجتماع بأن التنمية الإحصائية عملية باهظة الثمن وأن المانحين لهم دور رئيسي في توفير التمويل.
