Believing that the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone will protect African States against possible nuclear attacks on their territories,
وإيمانا منها بأن المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية ستحمي الدول اﻹفريقية من التعرض لهجمات نووية على أقاليمها،

Except where otherwise specified, this Treaty and its Protocols shall apply to the territory within the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone.
ما لم يحدد على نحو آخر، فإن هذه المعاهدة وبروتوكولاتها تنطبق على اﻹقليم المحدد في إطار المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية.

Each Party undertakes not to take, or assist, or encourage any action aimed at an armed attack by conventional or other means against nuclear installations in the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone.
يتعهد كل طرف بألا يتخذ أي إجراء يهدف إلى شن هجوم مسلح بالوسائل التقليدية أو غيرها ضد المنشآت النووية في المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية أو يساعد أو يشجع عليه.

1. This Treaty shall be open for signature by any State in the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone. The Treaty shall be subject to ratification.
١ - يفتح باب توقيع هذه المعاهدة ﻷي دولة في المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية وتخضع هذه المعاهدة للتصديق.

1. This Treaty shall be open for signature by any State in the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone.
١ - يفتح باب توقيع هذه المعاهدة ﻷي دولة في المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية.

Each Protocol Party undertakes not to test or assist or encourage the testing of any nuclear explosive device anywhere within the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone.
يتعهد كل طرف في البروتوكول بألا يقوم باختبار أي جهاز متفجر نووي في أي مكان داخل المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية أو بالمساعدة أو التشجيع على اجراء هذا الاختبار.

It should be recalled that it was only South Africa's accession to the NPT and the IAEA safeguards regime which made the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone a reality.
لابد من التذكير بأن انضمام جنوب افريقيا إلى معاهدة عدم الانتشار ونظام ضمانات الوكالة الدولية للطاقة الذرية هو الذي جعل إنشاء المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية حقيقة واقعة.

An African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone will also contribute greatly to the stride towards a world free from nuclear weapons.
وستسهم المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية أيضا إسهاما بالغا في الخطوة الكبرى التي تتخذ في سبيل عالم خال من اﻷسلحة النووية.

The experts were also of the opinion that the African zone should be called an African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone as this would clearly reflect, in addition to its non-proliferation content, Africa's commitment to harness nuclear energy for developmental purposes.
كما رأى الخبراء أن المنطقة الافريقية ينبغي تسميتها المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية ﻷن هذا يعكس بوضوح، بالاضافة الى ما تتضمنه من عدم الانتشار، التزام افريقيا بتسخير الطاقة النووية لﻷغراض الانمائية.

In this connection they suggested that Parties to the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Treaty, who are not Parties to the Bamako Convention and therefore are not bound by it, should nevertheless undertake to support effective implementation of and apply measures equivalent to those contained in the Bamako Convention with regard to the prohibition of the dumping of radioactive waste.
واقترحوا في هذا الصدد أن على اﻷطراف في معاهدة المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية الذين ليسوا أطرافا في اتفاقية باماكو وليسوا ملزمين بها بالتالي، أن يتعهدوا رغم ذلك بدعم التنفيذ الفعال لتدابير مماثلة لتلك الواردة في اتفاقية باماكو وتطبيقها فيما يتعلق بحظر إلقاء النفايات المشعة.

They proposed that Parties to the Treaty should undertake not to take, assist, or encourage any action aimed at an armed attack by conventional or other means against nuclear installations in the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone.
واقترحوا أن يتعهد اﻷطراف في المعاهدة بعدم اتخاذ أي إجراء يهدف إلى القيام بهجوم مسلح سواء بالوسائل التقليدية أو غيرها في المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية أو تقديم المساعدة لهذا اﻹجراء أو تشجيعه.

The second Protocol, also addressed to the nuclear-weapon States, would have those Powers undertake not to test or assist or encourage the testing of any nuclear explosive device anywhere within the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone.
أما البروتوكول الثاني، الذي يوجه أيضا إلى الدول الحائزة لﻷسلحة النووية، فإنه سيلزم تلك الدول بالتعهد بعدم اختبار أي نبيطة للتفجير النووي أو المساعدة في هذ الاختبار أو تشجيعه في أي مكان داخل المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية.

NOTING the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone Treaty (the Treaty)
اذ تحيط علما بمعاهدة المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية )المعاهدة(،

(b) Any territory within the African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone as defined in annex 1 of the Treaty.
)ب( أي اقليم داخل المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية المحددة في المرفق ١ للمعاهدة.

12. The experts were of the opinion that usage of such terms as " African Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone " , " territory " , " nuclear explosive device " , " stationing " , " dumping " and " nuclear facilities " should be explained in the Treaty.
١٢ - وكان من رأي الخبراء أن استخدام مصطلحات مثل " المنطقة الافريقية الخالية من اﻷسلحة النووية " ، و " الاقليم " و " الجهاز المتفجر النووي " و " ووضع " و " إلقاء " و " المرافق النووية " ينبغي تفسيرها في المعاهدة.
