• African Training

In the African region, in 1975, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) Conference of Ministers, established the African Training and Research Centre for Women (ATRCW), now the African Centre for Women (ACW).

The team has noticed that the social sectors have been splintered into the Social Policy, Planning and Research Unit, the Social Development Section, the Human Resources Development Section and the African Training and Research Centre for Women.

These include the Pan-African Conference of Ministers of the Civil Service, arranged in cooperation with the African Training and Research Centre in Administration for Development, in June 1994 in Morocco; and an expert group meeting on human resource development in the public service held in New York in June 1994.

144. During the reporting period, the African Training and Research Centre for Women continued to assist ECA member States in improving the socio-economic conditions of African women and enhancing women's participation and contribution to development.

External relations: facilitation of inter- and intra-regional cooperation among professional management and finance associations and institutions in the design and delivery of public sector management development and support programmes; participation in board and management meetings of the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute and the African Training and Research Centre in Administration for Development.
العلاقات الخارجية: تيسير التعاون داخل المناطق وفيما بينها، وذلك بين الرابطات والمؤسسات المهنية المعنية باﻹدارة والمالية في مجال تصميم وتنفيذ برامج تنمية ودعم إدارة القطاع العام؛ والاشتراك في اجتماعات مجالس اﻹدارة والاجتماعات اﻹدارية لمعهد اﻹدارة لشرق افريقيا والجنوب الافريقي والمركز الافريقي للتدريب والبحث في مجال اﻹدارة ﻷجل التنمية.

27. The African Training and Research Centre for Women (ATRCW) of ECA has carried out the following activities in preparation for the regional conference:

(a) Three recurrent publications: Issues and Trends in Women's Advancement in Africa (1995);** ATRCW Update (newsletter of the African Training and Research Centre for Women) (bi-annual); and roster of African women experts (1995);

The twenty-ninth session of the ECA/Twentieth Meeting of the Conference of Ministers responsible for economic and social development and planning, held at Addis Ababa from 2 to 5 May 1994, changed the name of the African Training and Research Centre for Women (ATRCW) to African Centre for Women (ACW).
٤٣ - وقامت الدورة التاسعة والعشرون للجنة الاقتصادية لافريقيا/مؤتمر الوزراء المسؤولين عن التنمية والتخطيط في الميدانين الاقتصادي والاجتماعي في اجتماعه العشرين، المعقود في أديس أبابا في الفترة من ٢ الى ٥ أيار/مايو ١٩٩٤، بتغيير اسم المركز الافريقي للتدريب والبحث المعني بالمرأة ليصبح المركز الافريقي للمرأة.

The African Ministers of the Civil Service, at the invitation of the Kingdom of Morocco, met in Tangier on 20 and 21 June 1994 at a Pan-African Conference jointly organized by the Department for Development Support and Management Services of the United Nations Secretariat and the African Training and Research Centre in Administration for Development (CAFRAD).
