On 24 November 1999, Mr. Doek participated in a meeting of members of Parliament in The Hague organized by the Dutch NGO Coalition to Stop Child Soldiers, intended to gather support for the approval of an additional protocol to the Convention which would set the age for recruitment and participation in the armed forces at 18.
