In its previous concluding comments (A/56/38, paras. 294-295), the Committee expressed concern about the persistence of stereotypes concerning the roles of women in the family and in society, and recommended that an assessment of the impact of measures be undertaken in order to identify shortcomings, and to adjust and improve such measures accordingly.
