The Statistical Commission is asked to endorse ICCS as the standard international classification for crime statistics, to endorse the related implementation plan, to appoint the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime as the custodian of ICCS and to discuss other tools that will support ICCS implementation.

The development of ICCS started with the adoption of the principles and framework for an international classification of crimes for statistical purposes, prepared by a task force led by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Economic Commission for Europe and endorsed by the Conference of European Statisticians at its sixtieth plenary session, held in June 2012.

31. The international process initiated to produce the international classification of crimes for statistical purposes is concluding with the submission of the Classification to the Statistical Commission (see E/CN.3/2015/7).

In accordance with Economic and Social Council decision 2014/219, the Secretary-General has the honour to transmit the report of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime on the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS).

1. The development and finalization of the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS) was an activity of high priority since it lays the foundation for further improvements.

The International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes was first discussed by the Statistical Commission at its forty-third session (E/2013/24) and by the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice at its twenty-first session (E/2012/30 and Corr. 1 and 2).
وناقشت اللجنة الإحصائية التصنيف الدولي للجريمة للأغراض الإحصائية للمرة الأولى في دورتها الثالثة والأربعين (E/2013/24) وناقشته لجنة منع الجريمة والعدالة الجنائية في دورتها الحادية والعشرين (E/2012/30 و Corr. 1 و 2).

5. In particular, the work to implement the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS) and promote high-quality and standardized victimization surveys lays the foundation for several metrics in the area of crime, violence and security.

(b) Technical assistance and training: the Centre will continue to provide technical assistance for the implementation of victimization surveys upon countries' requests, training courses on victimization surveys (online and on-site) will be conducted and support will be provided for the implementation of ICCS at the regional level;
