5. The following recommendations were made with regard to measures taken to counteract new trends in the use of technology by drug trafficking and organized criminal groups:

Several speakers also noted that cybercrime and the use of technology by criminal groups, including terrorists, posed serious problems and that, consequently, more effective global action was required by the international community to provide security to cyberspace and critical infrastructure, including through the use of existing international instruments.
