The report was considered by the Second Committee at the sixtieth session of the General Assembly in the context of its discussion of operational activities for development in the United Nations system.

The eleventh United Nations Inter-Agency Round Table on Communication for Development, held in Washington, D.C., in March 2009, dealt with the monitoring, evaluation and institutionalization of communication for development in the United Nations system.

On the recurrent issue of coordination of science and technology for development in the United Nations system, the secretariat was urged, in collaboration with other United Nations bodies, to continue efforts to establish an electronic network linking information on their activities in science and technology for development and to build awareness of scientific developments that are particularly important for fostering economic development.
11- وبصدد الموضوع المتكرر وهو تنسيق الأعمال المتعلقة بتسخير العلم والتكنولوجيا لأغراض التنمية في منظومة الأمم المتحدة جرى حث الأمانة على مواصلة جهودها بالتعاون مع هيئات الأمم المتحدة الأخرى لإنشاء شبكة إلكترونية لنقل المعلومات المتعلقة بأنشطتها في مجال تسخير العلم والتكنولوجيا لأغراض التنمية والتوعية بالتطورات العلمية ذات الأهمية الخاصة لتعزيز التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية.

In particular, the question of a separate Executive Board for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the arrangements relating to the Committee on Food Aid Policies and Programmes of the World Food Programme (WFP) and the outcome of the consultations on funding operational activities for development within the United Nations system are reviewed.
