وتنفيذا لذلك، ستسعى المنظمة إلى الإسهام في تنمية الشعوب الأصلية، من خلال تشجيع احترام وصون نظمها المعرفية والحفاظ عليها، وتحديد الابتكارات والممارسات التي تجسد الأساليب الحياتية التقليدية الملائمة لصون التنوع البيولوجي والاستفادة منه على نحو مستدام``.

In particular, Article 8(j) and related provisions directly address matters of the utmost importance to indigenous and local communities by focusing on respect, preservation and maintenance of the knowledge, innovations and practices of indigenous and local communities, embodying traditional lifestyles relevant for the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity.
