50. This chapter contains brief summaries of the urgent appeals and communications transmitted to Governments, as well as replies received from the Governments to allegations.

As evidenced in the Special Rapporteur's reports on cases transmitted to Governments and replies received, many individuals have been deprived of their right to life, liberty or security of person because of religion or belief and have been subjected to arbitrary arrest or detention and torture on that account.
