The law on armed forces, adopted recently by parliament, contains provisions on the protection of children and civilians during armed conflict, in accordance with the norms set forth in international instruments ratified by the Sudan.

25. The Constitution not only provides for those freedoms but also broadens them by ensuring that international instruments ratified by the Sudan are an integral part of that Bill (art. 27 (3)).

In the area of national legislation, our 2005 transitional constitution contains provisions protecting children's rights, in keeping with international instruments and conventions ratified by the Sudan that were incorporated into the constitution, including that of South Sudan. In 2004, we drafted a law intended to fill gaps in governmental policy in that area.
ثانيا، في سياق التشريعات الوطنية، تضمن دستور جمهورية السودان الانتقالي لسنة 2005، أحكاما نصت على رعاية وحماية حقوق الطفل وفقا للمواثيق والاتفاقيات الدولية التي صادق عليها السودان واعتبرها جزءا من الدستور، كما اشتمل دستور جنوب السودان ودساتير الولايات على حقوق الطفل في المجالات كافة، وصدر قانون خاص بالطفل في سنة 2004 ويخضع الآن للمراجعة لسد الفجوات من خلال التطبيق العملي والممارسة الفعلية.

2. According to article 27 (3) of the Interim Constitution of 2005, all the rights and freedoms embodied in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights are part of the Constitution. The article also states that all international treaties ratified by the Sudan are an integral part of its domestic law.
وفقاً لنص المادة 27(3) من الدستور الانتقالي سنة 2005 تعتبر كل الحقوق والحريات المضمنة في العهد الدولي الخاص بالحقوق المدنية والسياسية جزء من الدستور، حيث تقرر المادة: أن كل الاتفاقيات الدولية التي صادق عليها السودان تعتبر جزءاً من قانونه الوطني.
