While mindful of the Israeli motivations to continue their air incursions into Lebanese airspace, I would note that such violations of Lebanese sovereignty, which stand in contradiction to resolution 1701 (2006) and other relevant resolutions, undermine the credibility of both UNIFIL and the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and compromise overall efforts to stabilize the situation in the south and efforts to build trust and confidence generally.
وإني إذ أضع في الاعتبار الدوافع الإسرائيلية لمواصلة اختراق المجال الجوي اللبناني، فإنني أود الإشارة إلى أن هذه الانتهاكات للسيادة اللبنانية، التي تتنافى مع القرار 1701 (2006) وغيره من القرارات ذات الصلة، تقوض مصداقية كل من قوة الأمم المتحدة المؤقتة في لبنان والقوات المسلحة اللبنانية وتنال من الجهود الرامية إلى استقرار الحالة في الجنوب ومن جهود بناء الثقة عموما.
