IV. Status of the United Nations Iraq Account

1. The United Nations Iraq Account was established under the provisions of Security Council resolution 986 (1995).

24. Following extensive consultations with the Government of Iraq, the Secretariat negotiated with a group of banks with the aim of diversifying the funds in the United Nations Iraq Account.
