The Secretary-General wishes to take this opportunity to remind and encourage all members of the Authority to deposit such charts or lists of coordinates, pursuant to article 84, paragraph 2, of the Convention, as soon as possible after their outer limits of the continental shelf have been established in accordance with relevant provisions of the Convention.

The coastal State shall give due publicity to such charts or lists of geographical coordinates and shall deposit a copy of each such chart or list with the Secretary-General of the United Nations and, in the case of those showing the outer limit lines of the continental shelf, with the Secretary-General of the Authority.

In this connection, it should be noted that the deposit of charts or of lists of geographical coordinates of points with the Secretary-General of the United Nations is an international act by a State party to UNCLOS in order to conform with the deposit obligations referred to above, after the entry into force of UNCLOS.
84 - وفي هذا الصدد، ينبغي الإشارة إلى أن إيداع الخرائط أو قوائم الإحداثيات الجغرافية لدى الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة يعد عملا دوليا تقوم به دولة طرف في اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لقانون البحار من أجل الامتثال لالتزامات الإيداع المشار إليها أعلاه بعد دخول اتفاقية الأمم المتحدة لقانون البحار حيز النفاذ.
