The Deputy Executive Director said that the funding imbalance was unsustainable and that if no action were taken, there would be cascading negative effects on programmes financed from regular resources at the country level, on field office support budgets and on the Headquarters Support budget.

واقترح الأمين العام على الجمعية العامة في دورتها الخمسين تغيير منهجية تمويل حساب الدعم بحيث توافق الجمعية العامة، لفترة الاثني عشر شهرا المنتهية في 30 حزيران/يونيه من السنة الموالية، على احتياجات الدعم بالمقر وتقسيم التكاليف على الدول الأعضاء على أساس نفس الجدول المستخدم في تقسيم الأنصبة المتعلقة بعمليات حفظ السلام (A/50/876).

Therefore, it is proposed that one of the Finance and Budget Officer posts in the Headquarters Support Account Teams be reclassified from the P-3 to the P-4 level in order to align the experience, budget and reporting skills and management expertise required to administer the support account budget formulation and execution.
