1. The Chairperson, recalling that the panel discussion had been called for by the member States of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space (COPUOS), said that emergency situations and disasters continued to haunt societies.

States members of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space and observers frequently host thematic workshops and conferences on the margins of sessions of the Committee and its two Subcommittees.

Algeria believes that the definition and delimitation of space must firstly be based on consensus between States members of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space on the specific terminology used in treaties relating to outer space, with a view to the uniform interpretation of the relevant treaties and conventions.

A committee of governmental experts has been established and has held two sessions in Rome, in December 2003 and October 2004, to which all member States of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space were invited.
وقد أُنشئت لجنة من خبراء حكوميين، وعقدت جلستين في روما في كانون الأول/ديسمبر 2003 وفي تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2004، دُعي إليهما جميع الدول الأعضاء في لجنة استخدام الفضاء الخارجي في الأغراض السلمية.

The Meeting had before it a proposal by the Office for Outer Space Affairs to convene a half-day informal open session of the Inter-Agency Meeting on Outer Space Activities, with the participation of interested member States of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space and interested entities of the United Nations system.

As a follow-up to the Workshop and pursuant to a request by member States of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space for the participation of the Office for Outer Space Affairs at the Summit, an ad hoc panel of recognized satellite experts was organized by the Programme during the Summit.

Pursuant to General Assembly resolution 58/89, the Subcommittee, at its 611th meeting, on 24 February, established a Working Group to consider comments from States members of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space on the proposals on debris mitigation presented by IADC to the Subcommittee at its fortieth session.
92- وعملا بقرار الجمعية العامة 58/89، أنشأت اللجنة الفرعية، في جلستها 611 المعقودة في 24 شباط/فبراير، فريقا عاملا للنظر في تعليقات الدول الأعضاء في لجنة استخدام الفضاء الخارجي في الأغراض السلمية على الاقتراحات المتعلقة بتخفيف الحطام التي قدمتها اليادك إلى اللجنة الفرعية في دورتها الأربعين.

2. In a note verbale dated 31 July 2014, the Secretary-General invited States members of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space to submit their reports, by 20 October 2014.
2- وفي مذكِّرة شفوية مؤرَّخة 31 تموز/يوليه 2014، دعا الأمين العام الدول الأعضاء في لجنة استخدام الفضاء الخارجي في الأغراض السلمية إلى تقديم تقاريرها بحلول يوم 20 تشرين الأول/أكتوبر 2014.

2. In a note verbale dated 31 July 2014, the Secretary-General invited States members of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space to submit, by 20 October 2014, their views on the modalities of making practical use of the recommendations.
٢- وفي مذكِّرة شفوية بتاريخ 31 تموز/يوليه 2014، دعا الأمين العام الدول الأعضاء في لجنة استخدام الفضاء الخارجي في الأغراض السلمية إلى أن تقدِّم، بحلول 20 تشرين الأول/ أكتوبر 2014، آراءها بشأن طرائق الاستفادة العملية من التوصيات.

In conclusion, Thailand, among other States members of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space, affirms its commitment to further cooperating in the activities of the Committee to strengthen its work for the peaceful uses of space.
وختاماً، فإنَّ تايلند ودولاً أخرى من ضمن الدول الأعضاء في لجنة استخدام الفضاء الخارجي في الأغراض السلمية تؤكِّد التزامها بالمزيد من التعاون في أنشطة اللجنة الرامية إلى تعزيز عملها في مجال استخدام الفضاء في الأغراض السلمية.

14. It was further agreed that, in corresponding with Unidroit, the Director of the Office for Outer Space Affairs should make reference to the proposed third session of the committee of governmental experts, to be held in October 2005, and to the possible scheduling conflict that meeting might pose with other meetings of relevance to the States members of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space at that time.
14- واتفق كذلك على أنه ينبغي لمدير مكتب شؤون الفضاء الخارجي، عند مراسلة اليونيدروا، أن يشير إلى الدورة الثالثة المقترحة للجنة الخبراء الحكوميين التي من المزمع عقدها في عام 2005، وإلى احتمال تداخل موعد انعقادها مع اجتماعات أخرى تهم الدول الأعضاء في لجنة استخدام الفضاء الخارجي في الأغراض السلمية.

Having regard for resolution 3 of the Diplomatic Conference to Adopt a Mobile Equipment Convention and an Aircraft Protocol, adopted on 16 November 2001, States members of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space should be encouraged to contribute to the drafting of the space protocol at all stages of its development.
واعتبارا لما ورد في القرار 3 الصادر عن المؤتمر الدبلوماسي لاعتماد اتفاقية بشأن المعدات المنقولة وبروتوكول بشأن الطائرات، الذي اعتمد في 16 تشرين الثاني/نوفمبر 2001، ينبغي تشجيع الدول الأعضاء في لجنة استخدام الفضاء الخارجي في الأغراض السلمية على الإسهام في كل مراحل إعداد بروتوكول الفضاء.

The Subcommittee noted that any further comments received from States members of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space by 8 March 2004 would be taken into account in the draft report to be made available for the next round of the informal consultations.
ونوهت اللجنة الفرعية بأن أي تعليقات أخرى ترد من الدول الأعضاء في لجنة استخدام الفضاء الخارجي في الأغراض السلمية حتى 8 آذار/مارس 2004 ستؤخذ بعين الاعتبار في مشروع التقرير الذي سيتاح للجولة القادمة من المشاورات غير الرسمية.
