At its fifth session the Commission on the Limits of the Continental Shelf decided that at its next (sixth) session it would, inter alia, examine the technical facilities of the Secretariat and its logistical preparedness for receiving submissions of coastal States regarding the outer limits of their continental shelves (CLCS/12, para. 21).
١ - قررت لجنة حدود الجرف القاري في دورتها الخامسة أن تقوم في دورتها المقبلة )السادسة( بأمور منها دراسة المرافق التقنية اللازمة لﻷمانة العامة واستعدادها سوقيا لتلقي بيانات الدول الساحلية بشأن الحدود الخارجية لجروفها القارية )CLCS/12، الفقرة ٢١(.

The functions of the Commission, whose 21 members were elected in 1997, are to consider the data and other material submitted by coastal States concerning the outer limits of the continental shelf in areas where those limits extend beyond 200 nautical miles, to make recommendations to coastal States in accordance with UNCLOS, as well as to provide scientific and technical advice in this respect if requested by coastal States.
