1. The Committee, under the Chairmanship of Ambassador Anwarul Karim Chowdhury (Bangladesh), adopted the present report on 26 December 2000.

On 2 June, Council members agreed to appoint Ambassador Anwarul Karim Chowdhury of Bangladesh as Chairman of the working group on sanctions established by the Council on 17 April 2000 (see the note by the President (S/2000/319)).

[The hearing was scheduled to continue on 1 August.]

20. On 18 February 2000, at its 13th meeting, under the Chairmanship of Ambassador Anwarul Karim Chowdhury (Bangladesh), the Committee discussed the fact that Foday Sankoh, Chairman of the Commission for the Management of Strategic Resources, National Reconstruction and Development in Sierra Leone, had left Sierra Leone without the authorization of the Committee.

In June 2001, under the Presidency of Ambassador Anwarul Karim Chowdhury, Permanent Representative of Bangladesh, the Security Council addressed a number of major issues in the Council's agenda. The Council was actively seized of issues including Iraq-Kuwait, Afghanistan, Sierra Leone, Burundi, Cyprus, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Eritrea and Ethiopia, and Western Sahara.
في حزيران/يونيه 2001، تناول مجلس الأمن، برئاسة السفير أنوار الكريم شاودري، الممثل الدائم لبنغلاديش، عددا من المسائل الرئيسية المطروحة على جدول أعمال المجلس، وكانت قيد النظر الفعلي من قبل المجلس قضايا منها العراق - الكويت، وأفغانستان، وسيراليون، وبوروندي، وقبرص، وجمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية، وكوسوفو، والبوسنة والهرسك، وإريتريا وإثيوبيا، والصحراء الغربية.

This view was supported by the Permanent Representative of Bangladesh to the United Nations, Ambassador Anwarul Karim Chowdhury, at the Security Council formal meeting to adopt resolution 1327 (2000), at which he stated that it was the understanding of the Council that such meetings would be in the format of the 4 October 2000 meeting on UNAMSIL.
