After the Mexico City Conference, the Economic and Social Council decided that periodic reports on the monitoring of multilateral population programmes shall be part of the monitoring system; since 1987, UNFPA, on behalf of the Secretary-General, has been responsible for the preparation of those biennial reports of the Secretary-General.
وبعد مؤتمر مدينة مكسيكو، قرر المجلس الاقتصادي والاجتماعي أن تكون التقارير الدورية عن رصد البرامج السكانية المتعددة اﻷطراف جزءا من نظام الرصد؛ ومنذ عام ١٩٨٧، يضطلع صندوق اﻷمم المتحدة للسكان، بالنيابة عن اﻷمين العام، بمسؤولية إعداد تقارير اﻷمين العام التي تصدر مرة كل سنتين.
