111. Some delegations expressed the view that the Secretariat should be requested to conduct a preliminary examination of the possible legal, financial and other requirements for the operation of the supervisory authority under the Convention and the preliminary draft protocol, with a view to providing a report to the Legal Subcommittee at its forty-second session, in 2003.

119- وأعربت بعض الوفود عن رأي مفاده أن اللجنة ينبغي أن توصي الجمعية العامة بأن تطلب رأيا استشاريا من محكمة العدل الدولية بشأن الآثار المحتملة لتولي الأمم المتحدة وظيفة السلطة الإشرافية بموجب بروتوكول الموجودات الفضائية.

The Working Group noted that a decision on whether the United Nations would assume the functions of supervisory authority under the space assets protocol would be taken by the General Assembly, taking into account the mandate and existing activities of the United Nations.
6- ولاحظ الفريق العامل أن الجمعية العامة ستتخذ قرارا بشأن ما إن كانت الأمم المتحدة ستتولى وظائف السلطة الإشرافية بموجب بروتوكول الموجودات الفضائية، مع إيلاء الاعتبار لولاية الأمم المتحدة وأنشطتها الموجودة حاليا.

21- وأعربت بعض الوفود عن رأي بأنه، بالنظر إلى الشواغل التي أُعرب عنها في تقرير الأمانة (A/AC.105/C.2/L.238)، يلزم إجراء المزيد من الدراسة قبل أن يتسنى اتخاذ قرار بشأن مدى ملاءمة أداء الأمم المتحدة دور السلطة الإشرافية بموجب بروتوكول الموجودات الفضائية.
