1. In accordance with the provisions of Article 12, paragraph 2, of the Charter of the United Nations and with the consent of the Security Council, the Secretary-General has the honour to notify the General Assembly of matters relative to the maintenance of international peace and security that are being dealt with by the Security Council and of matters with which the Council has ceased to deal.
١ - يتشرف اﻷمين العام بإخطار الجمعية العامة، طبقا ﻷحكام الفقرة ٢ من المادة ١٢ من ميثاق اﻷمم المتحدة وبموافقة مجلس اﻷمن، بالمسائل المتصلة بصون السلم واﻷمن الدوليين التي يتناولها مجلس اﻷمن اﻵن بالنظر وكذلك بالمسائل التي توقف المجلس عن تناولها.

2. The matters relative to the maintenance of international peace and security that have been discussed during the period since the notification to the forty-ninth session of the General Assembly (A/49/390) are as follows:
٢ - والمسائل المتصلة بصون السلم واﻷمن الدوليين التي نوقشت أثناء الفترة التي انقضت منذ تاريخ اﻹخطار المقدم الى الجمعية العامة في دورتها التاسعة واﻷربعين )A/49/390( هي التالية:

1. In accordance with the provisions of Article 12, paragraph 2, of the Charter of the United Nations and with the consent of the Security Council, the Secretary-General has the honour to notify the General Assembly of matters relative to the maintenance of international peace and security that are being dealt with by the Security Council and of matters with which the Council has ceased to deal.
١ - يتشرف اﻷمين العام بإخطار الجمعية العامة، طبقا ﻷحكام الفقرة ٢ من المادة ١٢ من ميثاق اﻷمم المتحدة وبموافقة مجلس اﻷمن، بالمسائل المتصلة بصيانة السلم واﻷمن الدوليين التي يعالجها مجلس اﻷمن وكذلك بالمسائل التي فرغ المجلس من معالجتها.

2. The matters relative to the maintenance of international peace and security that have been discussed during the period since the notification to the General Assembly at its forty-seventh session (A/47/436 and Corr.1) are as follows:
٢ - والمسائل المتصلة بصيانة السلم واﻷمن الدوليين التي نوقشت أثناء الفترة التي انقضت منذ تاريخ الاخطار المقدم الى الجمعية العامة في دورتها السابعة واﻷربعين )A/47/436 و Corr.1( هي التالية:

But fundamentally speaking, the ability of the CD to make substantive progress is closely related to the international peace and security situation which has a direct bearing on disarmament affairs.
